Updates and news related to political prisoners and prisoners of war. We will also lend our voice to all the political prisoners and prisoners of war in Palestine
We will also re-air an interview with Bro. BILAL SUNNI-ALI discussing political prisoner Dr. Mutulu Shakur. Bro. BILAL SUNNI-ALI is a musician, performer, composer, educator, community activist and advocate. He has performed live, on stage with Gil Scott-Heron, Brian Jackson, Doug Carn, Stevie Wonder, Wynton Marsaillis, American Symphony Orchestra, Jimmi Hopps-Esspirit, Earl Turbinton, Pharoah Saunders, and many, many more. He was also a Black Panther who was a co-defendant in the United States vs. Dr. Mutulu Shakur case. Dr. Shakur worked with the Revolutionary Action Movement (RAM), the Provisional Government of the Republic of New Afrika, and the Black Panther Party.
Shujaa Graham was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana, and grew up on a plantation in the segregated South of the 1950s. He moved to Southern California where he experienced the Watts Riots and police occupation and violence in his community. As a very young man, he spent much of it in juvenile institutions and was enslaved at Soledad Prison when he turned 18 yrs-old.
While in prison, Shujaa taught himself to read and write and studied history and world affairs. He was mentored by the leadership of the Black Prison movement. He would grow to become a leader of the growing movement within the California prison system, just as the Black Panther Party expanded in the community.
In 1973, he was framed for the murder of a prison guard and was given the death penalty. Obviously, Mr. Graham was able to prove his innocence and free himself in spite of the system of justice as he says.
He will speak to us tonight on the origins of “Black August” and prison movements.
Shujaa Graham lives in Takoma Park, Maryland, with his partner, Phyllis Prentice, and both are active members of Witness to Innocence’s Board of Directors.

From a campaign on behalf of the Imam Jamil Al-Amin aka H. Rap Brown, a former member of SNCC and the Black Panther Party.
As-Salaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatu:
I have been informed by Sister Karima Al-Amin that Imam Jamil Al-Amin’s blood tests have come back, and he has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma ( Cancer of the plasma cells) If it was not for the pressure that has been put on Bureau of Prisons these results might have been overlooked by this uncaring, unsympathetic Prison Industrial Complex.
The Imam is gravely ill, and the Supermax Prison is no place for a man in his condition to be. We must continue the pressure on the Bureau of Prisons to move Imam Jamil to a prison medical facility.
This is a call to action, contact the BOP, and express your concern over Imam Jamil’s health, and the neglect that he has been experiencing as a result of being incarcerated in facility, and not being afforded the urgent care that is a basic human right.
Please be polite when calling, and leave a message if sent to voicemail. Your call is an expression of concern for the welfare of Imam Jamil.
Update:
"Please Call the following and request that Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin 99974-555 is moved to the best federal medical facility to receive comprehensive medical treatment for this particular rare cancer.
Federal Bureau of Prisons (202) 307-3198 Press #3 for Office of General Counsel and request that he is moved. You will be transferred to an individual to document the call. Pressing #7 and then #6 for Medical Services simply gives other recordings and was not as effective" - Nancy Lockhart
